Mountain Cur Puppy Laina / CT pet photographer

January 26, 2011

Mountain Cur: A healthy, active breed from the mountains of Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. Mountain curs are very headstrong and born alphas – born to be boss. Yet, they are also known to be warmhearted and friendly – and they are great with kids as long as they get enough running and playing time in. Bred for hunting, these dogs need lots of exercise and are a perfect companion for any outdoor lover. A Mountain Cur is happiest when out in the field or yard – which makes him a great hiking and camping buddy. He can be very reserved towards strangers  – so do not expect him to greet your friends with a toy and wagging tail at the door. But on the other hand you can trust him to protect you and your family if need be.

Puppy Laina is yet another super cute mixed breed puppy I got to photograph. She is mostly Mountain Cur but has also some black Labrador in her. So she got the best of both worlds – sweet – sweeter – Laina :) She is active for sure but extremly cuddly on the other hand. For her 11 weeks I found her to be exceptionally independent – unlike most puppies her age. She enjoyed wondering of and exploring the house and beach on her own. But after a while she got lonely and needed company – so she went weee- wheee- wheeee – all the way home :)

Laina’s favorite hang out – a spot in the sun – nice and warm.

Laina was brought to me at my Animal Control facility here in Tennessee with her five other siblings. They were only 5 weeks old and required bottle feeding for a week and then gruel for another week. I am soooo pleased to see how beautiful she is!
